Best Candle Making Kits (Updated 2025 Guide)

Candle making kits have come a long way from the clunky, half-useful boxes I used to see twenty years ago. These days you can grab a complete kit for thirty to sixty bucks that actually includes everything you need: good soy or beeswax, proper wicks with metal sustainers, fragrance oils that don’t smell like cheap air freshener, a pouring pot, thermometer, and even the little warning labels so you don’t look like a total amateur when you gift them. If you’ve ever wanted to make candles that look and smell like the ones in boutique stores without spending two hundred dollars on supplies, these kits are pretty much the perfect starting point.
I’ve tested probably a dozen different ones over the years, from the super-basic Amazon sets to the fancier ones that come in wooden crates, and the honest truth is most of them work just fine once you know the basic process. The better kits include natural wax and stronger scents that throw well, while the cheap ones tend to use paraffin and weak dollar-store oils that barely fill a bathroom. Either way, you’re getting dye blocks, centering devices, and enough material to make six to twelve candles on your first try, which is way more forgiving than buying everything separately and realizing you forgot something critical halfway through.
